The Surat District Cricket Association was formerly known as The Southern Gujarat Cricket Association. It was formed in 1913.

Initially, the association didn't have its own ground. Earlier, cricket matches were played on Police Headquarter's ground and other activities realted to cricket were also conducted on the same ground, later the same activites were conducted on MTB College and K.P. Commerce College's ground and Ranji Trophy matches and other national level matches were played on MTB college ground,Baroda Rayon ground and ISLAM Gymkhana ground too.

SDCA - Future plans

SDCA has a visionary plan to execute the following future activities in phases:

1. SDCA is actively pursuing plans to enhance its seating capacity from existing 7,000 spectators to 30,000 spectators and thereby becoming a arena for hosting National and International level cricket matches and tournaments.

2. SDCA is also planning to develop a state of the art Indoor Sports Complex with following new additional

facilities:

• Two Badminton courts,
• Table Tennis room with 8 tables,
• Squash courts,
• Billiard room,
• Library room,
• Caroms and Chess room,
• TV lounge,
• A Department Store.

3. A modern Club House with residential accommodation, speciality restaurants, banquet hall, conference hall, a mini theatre and also locker facilities for the members, is also on the agenda of the association.

4. SDCA is also planning to construct a sports Hostel with noble objective of developing cricket talent among the youths of the City, District and the State.

• Main pavilion with seating capacity of approx. 7000 spectators. 57 cabin for members. Separate cabin facilities for media, vip and committee members of association.

3. Olympic size swimming pool and two other smaller swimming pool for ladies members and for children.

4. Three synthetic Tennis court.

5. Synthetic Volleyball court.

6. Basketball court.

7. Facility for Table Tennis, Billiard, Snooker, Carom etc.

8. Utility Centre with Jacuzzi, Sauna, Steam Bath and separate rooms for Aerobics & Yoga.

9. Family restaurant.

10. Vast car parking facility with capacity of 200-250 cars.

Beside the above round the year entertainment programme are organised for the members of the association.
